But, you and I agreeing won't make it happen if the current owner of the records doesn't agree with us. I would think it obvious that I would support the receipt by the club of any records which current owners choose to donate.

In part, I do agree with it (as you may recall, I have said that I think those who access any records owned by the club should pay a small fee). Eventually, it may be possible to recover all or most of the cost of acquisition in that way (which would mean that the club as a whole, including members who have no use for the records, would actually have paid little or nothing for them).
