To anybody who is listening. For years I've been of the opinion that meetings must be held during non-show hours because many of the dealers on the floor like to attend such sessions. After our own convention last month ... and after just returning from the ANA convention in Philadelphia ..... I've concluded that for the most part, this misconception is untrue. While there may be a FEW dealers that do like to attend these sessions for the educational aspect.... most dealers don't really give a hoot. Their overall lack of dealer attendance at past sessions tend to bear that reality out.
I too propose that next year the club try to schedule a couple of seminar meetings in mid-to-late afternoons (as Neal has suggested) in 2001 as a trial and see what happens.
As for convention suggestions posted in general, may I offer this pearly gem. "If you don't offer to volunteer to help make your suggestion doable or workable ... then don't make the suggestion in the first place." At the rate we're going, we won't need three candidates for th office of President.... we'll need three new candidates for Convention Chairman. There is nothing more frustrating than more demands being requested from a chairman ..... without the additional offer of volunteer help from the membership.
