I always use padded bubble envelopes when I have to mail chips to protect them from damage and prying fingers. The envelopes are not all that expensive, about 40 cents each, but are expensive compared to regular business envelopes, 4 x 9.5 inches, that are $3.50 for a box of 500 at Staples. The post office also charges 44 cents for the thick padded envelopes that are under an ounce, instead of 33 cents for a regular size envelope.
Today I received a package delivered by an overnight mail carrier, Airborne Express. The package was in a large 12 x 14.5 inch padded (bubble) envelope. I saved the envelope and cut it into pieces small enough to fit into a regular business envelope. This is great for sending just one chip, which weighs under an ounce. Two chips go over an ounce and are 55 cents in postage. You could easily get 4 or 5 chips in a business envelope. So save those padded overnight mail envelopes.
Does anyone else have some mailing tips?
