Hey Chippers (hope that's not a faux pas)!
First time here, nice board. Although I'm not a collector, I've had my share of sorrows and victories with MANY chips. One of the best times (so far) was my last trip to Vegas. Visited Hard Rock Hotel and played at a craps table with a $50 bank for the evening(only $10 tables were available at the time). Eight hours later, I had $2,185! The best roll was from a shooter that seemed to be hitting the harder point numbers, 4's & 10's. Sure enough, he starts out with another 10, so I put $100 on the hard 10 (i know! But I had a feeling). My bets were pressed up, and after rolling numbers for a good while - HARD 10 - YAHOO!!! A Playboy Bunny couldn't have dragged me from that table... All the youngsters (it was the Hard Rock, remember) were sticking with $10 bets and wondering how I was winning so much...
ANYWAY, the reason I'm posting was I was wondering if it is possible to buy enough chips to reasonbly stock a craps game for 6 people WITHOUT PAYING ANYWHERE NEAR THE FACE VALUE? The reason behind this request? I'm trying to expand my role of the bad uncle, and would like to teach my neices and nephews how to roll the bones. If I'm really bad, I'll do it while drinkin! Perhaps I'm really just looking for fake chips, but it would be so much more fun if they were real chips (just not circulating anymore). If you can think of fun options, I'd really like to hear from you. Perhaps I need to start keeping my winnings in the form of chips...
