Just a couple thought to consider:
I do not disagree with a charge for the social / food. Let's keep in mind however some possible side effects of a substantial charge. Possible reduced attendance. That could equate to less money than anticipated with the club having to pay the rest of the catering fee. Yes, I realize some money paid by members is better than none and would reduce club expenses. As Wayne has pointed out, room space for the social and trading session is tied to catering. The club will have to guarantee the catering if we are to have the trading session. Also, should we make paying for the social mandatory to attend the trading session since the two are linked? Whatever we do must ensure enough money is received to cover expenses while being fair to attendees.
With all the talk about dues increases, what do the proponents of the increase propose to do about life members?
