A few ways to increase revenue for our club :
1. All attendees to our annual Las Vegas convention should be required to pay a nominal daily entrance fee of $4.00 ( per day ) - or - buy a 3 day pass for $10.00 . I attend at least 40 to 50 different types of collector shows each and every year and NO ONE LETS YOU INTO THE SHOW FOR FREE - it's economically unfeasable . On average , I have been paying between $5.00 to $10.00 for only a day's admission charge , so our club should SERIOUSLY CONSIDER a nominal charge of some sort .
2. I wholeheartily agree with those who have voiced the opinion that the WEDNESDAY NIGHT get together at which food and beverages are presently being
served at NO CHARGE , should be an ATTENDEE PAID FOR EVENT . Which simply means that IF you are coming to this Wednesday night function to eat and drink , then you should be required to pay for it . The club should charge a nominal fee for the food - somewhere between $5.00 to $10.00 per person for the food , and also charge a nominal fee for beverages , less for soft drinks , and more for beer and wine by the glass . We are a non-profit organization , and cannot afford to just " give the food and beverages " to all attendees on a complimentary , no-charge basis . The enormous expense of the food and beverage on that Wednesday night is simply not covered anywhere else in revenue to our club - most certainly it is NOT COVERED in the annual membership fees . If you go out for drinks or beverages anywhere in Las Vegas , they are not free to the average patron . Why should our club be forced to " absorb " this cost - we should not . If a " potential attendee " at our Wednesday night function " does not want to pay for the food or beverage , they simply need not attend . They are free to pay for their food and drink somewhere else . THERE ARE NO FREE LUNCHES .
3. The annual membership fees are too low for the value that our members receive . The annual fee of $20.00 just barely covers the cost of the quarterly magazine and the mailing costs associated with it . Since this puts the club at almost a " break-even " point , there is a benefit to our club members , but NO ACTUAL BENEFIT to our club's annual revenue . I would suggest an annual membership fee of $15.00 ( which DOES NOT INCLUDE THE QUARTERLY CLUB MAGAZINE ) - or - an annual membership fee of $35.00 ( which DOES INCLUDE THE QUARTERLY MAGAZINE ) . Members can decide on which type of membership they want . I belong to at least 25 different collector clubs , and on average I am paying annual membership fees of between $25 to $75 per organization per year . AND - almost all of these " collector clubs " are non-profit and very few are sending out any " quarterly magazines " . Most are either sent yearly - or - bi-yearly , and most DO NOT HAVE THE FINE QUALITY OF OUR CLUB MAGAZINE .
4. At least on an annual basis at the club convention / show in Las Vegas , why not " solicit " for " donations " of items to be placed in the annual club
auction from club members . I am almost sure that most collectors / dealers would be very happy to donate items to our club that could be turned into cash for our club . This alone could raise approximately $3500 tp $5000 for our club's treasury . All the club has to do is ask the membership for donations .
I would be willing to " donate " at least $100 - $200 value in obsolete casino chips for any future convention chip auction . How about YOU ? ? ?
These are just a few ideas that I had about increasing revenue for our club . Members cannot continue to believe that the club should be required to outlay greater and greater sums of money with no " real increase in actual revenues " .
It would be " economic suicide " .
