I told a few folks at the convention about some unusual experiences I had at the French roulette table last weekend, thought I'd share them with the rest of you.
During play Friday night, between spins I took a 20000 plaque from Casino Chaudfontaine out of my fanny pack that I had bought from Bob Hermans the day before at the convention, placed it in front of me and asked "Can I play this here?" The dealers took turns admiring the piece as they passed it around the table. The pit boss saw what was happening and said "The camera is going to LOVE this!" <G>
Again, on Friday night, I was playing my regular strategy, which includes betting the zero straight up every spin. The ball fell into the zero slot. I looked at the top of the table, and I didn't have a jeton on the zero for that spin. Most of the table staff knows what I bet, to the point that they remember my bets even if it's been 6 weeks since the last time I played the table, and I trust them to place my bets for me. Ultimately, as the player, I'm responsible for making sure that every bet I want to be placed has been placed. When the ball fell into the zero slot on this spin, realizing that I didn't have a jeton on it that time, I asked "What happened to my zero bet? I didn't notice that it hadn't been placed." One of the table personnel looks at the pit boss, and says "Robert always bets the zero. What should I do?" The pit boss says "Put one of his chips on the number." And they then paid me for having a winning bet! I've never seen that happen before! ....and I doubt it happens very often, anywhere! Just one more reason why I LOVE the French roulette table and the people who run the game at the Paris Las Vegas!
