I had a great time at my first convention. Greg's board makes it great for a first-timer since through the board and trading I met lots of folks I already "knew" rather than strangers. The trade session was amazing and mind-boggling in a fun way. With something like 500 people there it was hard to know where to start! The poker tournament was definitely a highlight for me. I know there was a lot of effort put in to organizing it, making up the great-looking chips, etc. Thanks to everyone that worked to put it on. The dealer's hall made me feel like that old saying, "So many chips, so little time." I definitely could have spent a lot longer going over all the chips that were there. Incidentally, someone asked before the convention about trading with the dealers. I found almost without exception the dealers were happy to trade. The auction was fun, even though since it only had one Calif. lot, I didn't buy anything. But Jim and Howdy made it entertaining even for watchers. Other fun times included watching Bob and Katie play roulette at the Paris (also finding out there was at least one cage employee that was willing to sell some jetons out of the cage :-) By the way, I have some plain jeton 5s if anyone wants to trade for either of the other two 5s. Can't forget talking chips with Chuck Smorse and a bunch of other club members at the bar at the Four Queens or taking the ride out to the Fiesta to pick up the $1 convention LE and finding lots more club members out there. All the volunteers deserve tons of thanks! They put on a tremendous event.I'm glad the next convention is in June since it means I won't have to wait a whole year for the next one!
