It's not the same thing as the Carl Cole episode.. but I remembered an incident I had earlier this year...

About 6 months ago I did a post on this board about a $5 Millineum chip from our local Sandia Casino. I offered it for a little above face... I don't remember the exact price or details.

Anyway, I had about a dozen requests for the chips as a result of my post. I recognized all the names as regulars (Hollibaugh, Munding, etc.) and mailed the chips out as soon as I had their addresses. All the payments arrived within days..... EXCEPT... I received an email request for 2 of the chips from a name I had NEVER seen on this board but obviously that was the only way he could have known about my offer. I mailed out the 2 chips right away to him (an address in the DFW, Texas area).

Everyone's money came quickly EXCEPT his.. I waited and waited... He never complained or inquired about NOT recieving the 2 chips he had requested....about 3 weeks went by and I finally emailed him and asked if he had received the two chips and if payment had been sent. I got a response (from his WIFE!) that went something like... "We don't know what you are talking about. We have bought a lot of chips... refresh our memory". I sent him a scan of the chip, copies of his email request, my email confirmation of mailing the chips out, etc.

Several days later I got an email from him telling me that he "didn't see the chips in his collection... but he has a lot of chips and looked the best he could.... so he "GUESSED" he never received them.

Is my POINT about losing the $10? Not really, I still had food in the cupboard.

Did he receive the chips and stiff me intentionally? Maybe.

Did the chips get lost in the mail? Sure could have!

In fact, I don't know WHAT my point is!

If you don't insure something sent through the mails (lacking an agreement between the 2 people involved) and it doesn't show up (or is claimed to have not been delivered)... Be prepared to make it good.

That being said, based on the nature of the email responses I received from the guy, I will not deal with him again UNLESS insurance is involved and I receive payment FIRST.

And NO - I'm NOT gonna post his name and address on the board!!!
