"only after a threat of E-mailing his other potential customers did I get a reply".
Whoa, hold your horses! Emailing a sellers customers is "auction interference" and can get you suspended from eBay real quick! No matter what you think a seller may have done to you and how justified you feel you are to warn off your fellow bidders, emailing his other customers in an effort to influence the outcome of his auctions is a HUGE no-no.
If you think about it, eBay can't really have any other policy, can they? Most disputes are simple misunderstandings, and allowing a party that feels injured to sabatoge a sellers' business would lead to total chaos. The reverse is true as well. If you sell to a deadbat bidder, or an otherwise nightmare buyer, you can't email every seller who's auction he bids on to warn them.
If he's a crook, any other bidders he jerks around will have the same recourse that you do, leave NEGATIVE feedback, file a fraud complaint with SafeHarbor, try to get him suspended, file mail fraud charges with the Feds, etc. etc. ec. If he makes a habit of ripping people off, he won't last long.
Involving other bidders in your dispute with him will gwet you kicked off eBay in two seconds flat. All he has to do is provide SafeHarbor with a copy of your email to his bidder, and if the headers indicate you sent it, you're Unregistered immediately, no appeal, no excuses.
Sorry fella, I'm not defending this guy, I'm just warning you not to cut of your nose to spite you own face.
