I just reread the first messages, and now I see that Benedict did not offer the chip on eBay, he offered it on this board for $2.61, postage included, apparently.
So you guys say this is not a rare chip, because you have one or more examples of the design, and know where to get them if you want more. So it's not rare to you, I understand that.
But it makes my point. This chip has NEVER been offered as a single on eBay, only to elitists who frequent these boards. But Joe Average eBay chip collector has not been able to get one, has never seen one, has never attended the July chip show, does not belong to a club or swap private email with other collectors. He has no "connections", he just collects antique chips and wants one of each design in Dale's book.
To him, this is a RARE chip. He is not concerned with how many exist, he is not concerned that maybe someone somewhere got one for $5.00 cheaper, he just wants one for his collection and deserves to know that this is a chip that stands out from the 100 or so other repetative auctions that I run every week. HE is my market, not you guys, and I direct my descriptions to HIM, not YOU.
You know, there's a whole world of collectors out there that do not belong to CCGTCC or frequent this board. For you to tell me that the word RARE does not belong with this chip does not take into consideration to whom I speak.
