Katie, I'll answer, since I have purchased a few things from them. But they are free to answer you post too.
Virtual Consignments is the same company/people as D&B Publications, which may be familiar to you as "ladyblueiis" on Ebay.
See for example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=365796583
I've known them to sell 4 types of chips, plus various supplies (key rings, etc), primarily:
1. Commemorative (non-casino) Frank Sinatra chip
2. Commemorative (non-casino) "Ladies of Gaming" set of 3 chips
3. Lone Star Casino (Tinian Island) chips from that closed casino
4. Chipco promotional chips of various types.
The first 2 items appear to have been commissioned by them, made by Chipco, to be sold to us collectors.
The Lone Star chips were used at that casino. When it went BK, Chipco got the chips back and sold them on the Chipco website for awhile. It looks likeD&B bought up the supply from Chipco. They also sell a variety of the Chipco promotional chips -- from regular size to oversize and octagonal.
Their website is at:

I've gotten the items I've ordered (or won on Ebay) in a timely manner. All OK. Just depends on if you like this stuff, and if the prices work for you. I've passed on some stuff, based on price, and have purchased other items.
You're right that the postings have seemed impersonal, but it's not a "fly by night" operation at all, in my experience.
