Archie et. al.:

You bring up several interesting points worth thought. Look at true antiques- art, 17th century furniture, rare American coins- the best examples of these items will hold their value in the worst economic times. Does a Flamingo metal center die cut chip compare to a Van Gogh? Of course not, but both will hold value and appreciate in time. I'm sure someone has done a study of antiques & their value in a down turning economy. Might be interesting to look for the research.
