On the other hand, we are reporters, not editors, and
must value them as we see them. We sometimes list a chip
at one value lower to compensate for the dealers use of
the higher end of the scale. Since we have seen the $25
Cure offered for $200 on this board, by a few collectors,
it will be listed in TCR-7 as a (P) 175-199. Sound fair?"
No it does not - and it sounds like a biased opinion.
I have seen ONE person sell it for $200 on this board. A current ebay auction shows it at $300+ right now.
I think you would take a few selling prices and find an average price between them. I don't like the fact of what the Hard Rock has done to chip collecting with the past 2 $25 chips. I have even publically complained about it.
To say they are worth $175-$200, in my opinion, is not a correct valuation.
I think fans of the Cure will be snatching these up on Ebay and the chips will never be seen again.
If this is the case - I would rethink the valuation.
I doubt the chip rack will encourage dealers and casinos to continue the practice. People do what they do - without the help of The Chip Rack.
And my opinion is not influenced by me having chips to sell either.
As of now I do not have one.
