I think Peter was probably right in his observation (created scarcity of some items will insure purchases of future items by buyers hoping for windfall profits).

My understanding is that Ty employees were not permitted to even buy any of the new issue beanie babies, so they would not have been able to sell them at inflated profits. Obviously, don't know for a fact that it didn't happen, but Ty was very security conscious about this and I doubt that very many got out without their consent. ----- jim o\-S
