Your post is right on the mark as far as I'm concerned. I don't collect chips as a basis for funding my future retirement - I use financial instruments. I'd love to have all of the obsolete chips from my primary area of interest, northwest Nevada, but there are more out of my range of affordability than there in. I'm not going to stop collecting because I can't afford what I want, but I sure enjoy the ones I've been able to acquire.
I collect current and LE's from many places, but I don't even try to collect them all - I must really be out of sync with most people because I've never even heard of Cure before seeing it on this BB. I don't usually collect chips commemmorating somebody or something I never heard of! But if someone is willing to pay over face for those chips, that's there business. Nobody ever forced me to buy a chip - and they never will.
