Okay first off i believe ever collector cares what their collection is worth.
We want it to increase it , because we know its always a safety net, and if we ever die and pass it on i want my kids to get something valuable and that will help them in live (FIRST GOTTA GET THE KIDS :) )
I don't know how others feel about this, but my collection has nothing to do with increasing value. I collect what I like, I pay what it is worth to me to have a chip and I do not believe that my collection has any monetary value because it is not collected for the purpose of selling. If I had to sell my collection I would probably be end up selling it for less than it cost me. And certainly if I want to put something away for my heirs (and I don't have any intention of doing so) I would be investing in something other than casino chips.
So If you consider your collection an investment, that is OK, but do not assume that all collector's feel this way.
