I recently contacted an individual about purchasing 100 each of $1 and $5 obsolete Golden Horseshoe, Cripple Creek chips. These chips currently have a low book value of $100 and $200 a piece respectively. I was lead to believe that this individual only had one rack of each denomination. .....so was another collector, who bought a rack of each chip as well as a rack of tokens. Given that I received an email offer to sell me individual chips from the guy who bought the first set of what was supposed to be only one set after having lunch with the original seller, I will not be buying the two racks, and would suggest that nobody else buy them by the rack either. The original seller mislead both myself and the other collector about the quantity coming to market. There is no way now to know how many chips the original seller has. The other collector who was mislead will probably be offering the chips and token as a set on eBay in a dutch auction at a very reasonable price.
As for the rest of the chips and tokens the original seller might have, I'd suggest he grind them up and throw them away. I hate being lied to, especially when thousands of dollars are involved!
