Hi Katie; Thanks for attempting to be the diplomat... but Steve and I have only been expressing opinions here and I don't think it has escalated to where there are any hard feelings that needs "patching up" between us for expressing our opinions.
First of all, let me say that I personally have never done what Steve has been saying has happened to him. I don't contact other ebay bidders in an attempt to sell my chips, nor have I ever received any solicitations from would-be bidders or buyers before or after any of my personal ebay sales.... although I would probably welcome such contacts on occassion. If Steve or anyone else won at what I considered to be a fair bid (say $25) for a particular chip ... and other bidders, who for one reason or another, did not bid in my ebay sale and wanted one at the same price... I would probably sell one to them if I had extras to sell.
I would not fault others from contacting runner-up bidders and attempting to sell for less. No one controls prices of how much to sell their chips for. I would be VERY upset if someone contacted my TOP bidder in an attempt to sell for less in an attempt to negate the agreed-upon binding bidding process. On the other hand, I have occassionally contacted ebay sellers after their sale had concluded and have inquired if they had additional chips they would like to sell at the same price as the top bid... or even slightly higher.
Bottom line? COMPETITION! It's good for the soul... and sometimes serves as a wake-up call for all of us.
