Robert,
You could very well be correct in what you say. But on the other hand, old G.H. could have been running a game in the Elks.
I have been looking for a BHV - Hourglass mold for quite some time. It stands for Bond Hill Vets. The Vets charter was taken out for the sole purpose of masking an illegal in Cincinnati. This also was quite common in the era. The BHV charter holder is a friend and now lives in LV.
As you probably know, the Mason Co was very willing to put false information on their records. They helped the illegal operators in any way they could, false addresses, false names, etc. I have wasted a lot of time traceing, a large number of false leads on Mason cards. A good example is the "BOB" chip. Delivered in both Shreavport LA and Texarkana TX. I am at work and don't have the guys name with me, but through a LA chipper we have pretty much asertained that the guy never lived in either city at any time.
On the other hand, I have actually spoke to 3 different people at the address on 3 different Mason Cards that had the same name that was on the Mason card, and they denighed they ever heard of Mason or bought chips from Mason.
Two of them, I am pretty certain was lying, I believe the 3rd guy. I think his name and address was used but he did not know it at the time.
You say:
"This illustrates the problems with these Mason index cards"
I agree, but where would we be without them!!!
Geez, I love the hunt for an illegal ID, but the phone bills are killing me. <g>
