Thanks Larry.... I think you've said it all. Now if there are some folks who enjoy doing this work as a hobby and look forward to sending chips all around the country at face value as a favor to other collectors, that's good and I applaud them for their devotion to the hobby! I would encourage chippers to sign up with that valuable free service. I used to do that when I first started collecting as well. But as more and more people came to expect that service for free, and never reciprocated in return... I began charging for my services.... and now there over 100 folks signed up as my subscribers for Atlantic City chips and tokens. Since then, having retired from my original line of work, my new issues service will be supplementing my social security check .... which I'll begin receiving in August.
Life constantly changes. What was yesterdays experiences can no longer be depended upon for tomorrow. We will all have to make changes in our living to adjust for these periodic lifestyle changes .... and not be so envious of what other folks do or don't do to make a living. As long as we maintain our health, that should be the uppermost important thing in our lives.
