I can think on the run, so covering for you wouldn't have been a problem unless security asked for ID showing we were married. ...and that could be explained by keeping names for professional reasons. If you had tossed this dog that bisquit (so to speak), I would have asked the pitboss if I could buy my chip collecting wife one of each color from that table (talking in low tones of course.) Probably would have had my request met.
Switching players cards, here's a true story of a switch that happened by mistake. I was playing Let it Ride at the Paris in April, and the floor person mistakenly gave my card to another player at that table, and his card to me. I didn't look at it before putting it into my pocket. I went from there to the French roulette table, bought in and handed the floor person what I thought was my card. He comes back after about 15 seconds, whispers to me "do you use more than one identity?" Quite confused by the question, I said "no, why?" He explained that I had handed him a players card that belonged to someone else! He said that's what he thought, but wanted to make sure in case there was a reason for me to use more than one name. He came back with a new card with my name and number on it. It can't hurt if the people working the floor and the table know you by name.
I'll be playing again at the Paris French roulette table during the convention. I don't think there is anything that you or Archie could do to make me nervous playing roulette....except... I quit playing last Sunday afternoon at a $25 minimum American roulette table at the Paris, not because I was losing, but the guy next to me was obnoxious to the people running the game, and very loud about it. I had doubled my $500 buy-in, but would have been happier leaving the table for my own reasons instead of outside factors. ...he was being rude AFTER winning on a $50 straight up bet! Some people's kids!!!!
