I agree with most of what's been said. It's the seller's responsibility to get the item to the buyer. Insuring a package doesn't require the receiver to sign for it though. I've had insured packages worth over $500 left of my porch when I wasn't home. I wonder how much luck you'd have getting the full insurance value back if say a chip collection were lost during shipment? Without an appraisal I'd be surprised if the post office would pay big bucks just on the sender's say-so that the collection was worth a small fortune. Hopefully nobody's had the experience of finding that out first-hand though.
