While looking at your scan of both chips, I also notice a heavier content of chromium alloyed in the steel inlay. Also, I can tell there's somewhat of a smaller spotweld on the back of the inlays probably due to a lesser powerful current being used that didn't discolor the surface. <g> Do let me know the displacement results of the newer chip so I may record it. <g>
