Just a thought. Are you inserting the whole URL (http://www.chipboard.com for instance)? I believe it is a function of the various browsers & e-mail programs to automatically recognize html. If you leave something out like the http://, or you only type in www.chipboard.com, the browser or e-mail program may not be recognizing it as a link.
