... I never "let" them win at anything. My wife didn't like it ("Why can't you let them win occasionally?"). Sometimes, I'd modify the rules to make it easier for them to play, but within whatever rules we were playing by, they had to win on their own. To this day, my daughter still has the score sheet from the first time she ever beat me at hearts.
