This sounds like the 1966 North Shore Club dollar tokens made by Franklin Mint. Those in the octagonal presentation cases can sell from $15-50 depending on whether you find the right collector. This token doesn't trade very often and the proof is not in Vince's list.
This token is apparently the same as the one in the proof collector set issued in 1966 (also silver-clad). 500 sets were made, and total mintage is 1000 pieces in proof, so there must have been 500 presentation proofs like the ones you have.
The catch here is that the cases are not sealed. Dealers have been known to substitute a less valuable proof-like for the proof token. Only the proof has a silver layer on the outside. The other 20,000 tokens are made of a kind of nickel alloy.
