Hey Dick!
Just doing some random thinking. I know the difference between an Intel Celeron CPU and an equivalent PIII (Pentium three)is the front end BUS. It's way faster with the Pentium chip. I'm thinking that Windows OS's were written for the smaller front end, causing it to cache extra memory. If your 550 MHz machine blazes with a large RAM, it could be a difference in the CPU. ...just guessing here, and admitting that I've already learned way more about computers by accident than I ever could have imagined, or wanted to!<G>
Wanting to learn more (plug and play is more like plug and pray) regards,
Bob (using a 400 MHz Celeron powered Toshiba laptop)
