Good points... Yet I should probably clarify your question:
"I'm not sure if the Nikon has the USB isn't that removable flash card?"

The Kodak (with the Nikon body) that I'm using only has a SCSI interface and a removable Hard Disk (type III PCMCIA Hard Disk Card).

The newer cameras support IEEE-1394 or Firewire or I-Link (Sony and Mac names for the same IEEE-1394 standard). This is a different interface than USB. 1394 can support up to 400Mbits per second transfer rates! This is great for video or large files. USB supports 1.5 Mbits per second...
