... example, too, Gene.
If I bet on 10 numbers $1 each straight up and repeat that bet 38 spins in a row, I will win 10 times and lose 28 (assuming a 0/00 wheel) or 27 (on a 0 wheel). For my 10 wins, I will be paid 10 x $35 or $350, plus keep my $10, for a total of $360. The house will take my other $9 on each of my ten winning spins plus all $10 on each of the other 28 spins.
To bet 10 numbers each 38 times, I invest $380. I end up with $360. The house keeps $20 out of $380 which is, VOILA, 2/38's or 5.26%.
Obviously, this may vary over a short period of time, but played long enough, the probabilities will assert themselves and the house will win its 5.26%, no more and no less.
