... Gene? If so, how can I get one? In June 1998, I bid on a brass core Coke chip on eBay --- I dropped out at $80.01 and was outbid by two people --- Carolyn Bruton won the chip at $91.00. The picture was not very good, but it definitely looked like a Reliable chip. The lot description was:
>> This is a very different coke collectible! It is a brass poker chip. I purchased this at the Antiques and Collectibles show in Atlantic City, NH, back in the 1980's. In the middle, in black writing it says, "Enjoy Coca-Cola trademark" It really is in super condition. Surrounding the writing are clubs, diamonds and circles. The background is red. It is very heavy for such a little piece (measures 1 1/2" in diameter, about the size of a silver dollar. <<
The picture shows eight edge inserts in addition to an inner ring of eight spots, which appear to be two clubs, two diamonds and four smaller circles arranged symmetrically around the round center piece.
In retrospect, I'm sorry I dropped out (have never seen another offered), but in those days had never spent more than about $25 for a chip of any kind.
