And yes, Jess, those are big footings, but not nearly big enough to support a hot tub. The deck is rated at 100 psf, which is double code minimum, so I can have plenty of chippers over for a BBQ some day.

The plans call for a matching 12' by 12' deck out the bedroom door in the background, with a 10' by 14' patio between the decks. The hot tub goes on the patio.
