A very insightful brief from the an insider. In some casinos every morning before the roulette tables open they run down an inventory for every stscks of the roulette chips write them down in an index card and insert it into the side of the glass or plastic shield. Now and then during the day they recheck and recheck them. You are absolutely to the point the casino is just trying to run a fair game for everybody - to collectors and players.
This is a true story, this is not made up just for a discussion on how serious the casinos on these chips although there are no value. At the Claridge Casino about 12 or more years ago there was a player who bought for a hundred chips at a $1 then in the middle of the play he started putting them into his pockets, the dealers told the players that all chips must be on the table, the floor person told him, then finally the pit boss (big guy) named Ramsey (later become shift boss and died about 4-5 years ago, God bless his soul) told the player but instead of stopping he went on. The pit boss have somebody called back up security went out of the pit to the players. The players started to act like to throw a punch but Ramsey was much faster caught the swing and threw the man on the floor. The player never had a chance at all, nailed down on the floor the security guys joined in, handcuffed, took him for processing and went to the city jail.
The are dead serious alright.
I am not against or for roulette chips collection or harvesting. I am sure as collectors they will find ways to get those chips. Condemning them is too harsh for words. I admire their courage to do so. To some extent they cannot be compared to the housekeeper or the other employees or the general public who takes anything that they can carry home for souvenirs. A housekeeper who had 15-18 wall clocks in her house with the name and logo of the casino she work from. Now you can not see anymore in the casino anything with their logo or name on, maybe some still has them, these names and logo are tempting invitation
The roulette collector pays for them at least but walking away with 50's or 100's I don't know.
