If you bid $10.00 as your highest bid and I bid $11.00 the seller sells the item for $10.50 to me, that's .50 higher than if I didn't bid. The seller is not hurt, granted the Seller may do better if Ebay extended the auction thus you now might decide to raise your high bid, but the seller knows how the auction works when he places his item up for bid. And if you are really willing to pay more than the $10 isn't you who is trying to gain an advantage (Notice I didn't accuse you of stealing).
