Re: Leonidas is back from Vegas
In Response To: Leonidas is back from Vegas ()

The one week in Las Vegas was too short. But I (with wife Rosa) enjoyed every step of the way walking from Imperial Hotel all the way to Mandalay Bay stopping at every casino along the Strip. This took us one whole day. Another day we walked up to Stratosphere and back to where we started. The third day we went to the Fremont Experience - the "shopping mall of casinos" what a place to shop casinos. My tote bag got heavier and heavier as we went in and out of the casinos buying 20 $1 chips in some casinos and 50 $1 chips in most of them. There were so much 'wish list' I carried for my trading partners and my co-workers.

Most of you if not all of the Las Vegas collectors have the chips from the area.
There are 5 chips in particular that I would like to emphasize. The Slots-A-Fun
Casino $1 chips with metal inlay are of two variety. One chip has the "dice" on it but the other has none. I wish I can scan them so you can see the difference.

The Horseshoe $1 chip is another to be noted. One has the horseshoe around the outer ring and the other has the 'hat & cane'. As a collector I would present and keep both in my chip album.

The Golden Gate $1 chip is again to be noted. One has the letters 'Golden Gate' is in italic and engraved on the outer ring and the other has only the 'hat & cane'

Another $1 chip that has special features that I noticed is the California Hotel
one chip has "$1.00" and the other has only "$1".

The Flamingo Hilton inlay design of the 'rainbow colors' is very much the same to the Atlantic City Hilton (now the Trump Marina) $1 which never opened.

Take care guys and dolls.
