While not connected to the internet (what internet?) my first computer programming was done on the predecessor PDP-8 which was so advanced it had a tape hard drive. This was while in college at UWM in Milwaukee in the late 60's also. To do any real programming you had to use punch cards which were read at night in the computer center and the information was sent to the real computer in Madison! That machine was a Univac 1108 which was lucky if it was running 30% of the time. Normally only took a day or two to get the results. Ah the good old days<G>.
