I am a newbie at chip collecting, only about a year. What got me hooked was picking up a couple of Tyson chips at the MGM. They had such a nice feel to them when they were outside the casino, kind of warmed my pocket. When I got them home I knew that I had to find others so I made a chip run to Vegas and Laughlin with a small wad in my pocket and came home with a bag of treasures. Because they are usually affordable when first issued, I continue to collect the LE's but I am beginning to purchase obsoletes, both for their simple beauty and I am intrigued with their history. I am 53 years old and remember many of the now defunct casinos that they represent.
This July, if all goes as planned, I look forward to meeting many of the faceless people that I have corresponded and done business with this past year. You have all been great and I look forward to many enjoyable years of searching for that special chip.
