Below is a post I made to the rec.gambling.poker newsgroup. Gary Philips is a long time poker dealer who has dealt in just about every World Series of Poker over the years. He is also going to be running the satellites this year. He has been able to have Becky read others posts so I'm hoping she reads the one I made.................Andy - Las Vegas
Gary,
I just got through reading the Nevada Gaming Commission's April report on new casino chips being released. For those that do not know...........Every year the Horseshoe releases a $2.50 chip with the previous years World Champion on it. This is an add-on chip to the 20 chip set they released back in 1994. Last years winner as we all know was Noel Furlong. Note that his first name is spelled NOEL. On the Gaming Commission list it is spelled NEIL! I'm sure there is a slight chance that they got the name wrong, but, I would have to bet it's on the Horseshoe's end since the $5 Stuey Ungar chip released last year had his last name spelled wrong! On that chip it was UNGER. It's kind of sad that the Horseshoe can not get these names correct. I know it's not your fault Gary. Maybe you could print this out & give it to Becky. I would imagine that the chips are already in the cage ready to be released during the tournament as they are every year. If his name is spelled wrong there is no chance that Paul-Son will be able to get this corrected as backed up as they are. If there is any chance they have not been done yet then maybe we have caught it in time. Please let me know what you find out.
