Maybe not...

Sometimes when I scan an item using the HP Deskscan II software that came with my HP 4c, although the software is told to scan in Color it defaults sometimes after the scan to Black and White. I just use the pull down area and tell it color again and it automatically re adjust the current scan to color without having to rescan.
