As a collector of the Sahara Casino chips for the past several years, I've always found it difficult to make the distinction between the two varieties of the dollar H.C. Edwards chip. TCR distinguishes by the color of the camel: brown and black. In looking at several dozen of these chips, I've concluded there is a whole range of colors from tan to almost black. I believe these are printing variations within lots and can't be reliably used to pick out the early and later orders of these chips.
A better way is to look at the position of the town-line at the bottom of the inlay. One has the Las Vegas, Nev spaced well away from the border and about 1 mm from the bottom of the "$1". The other variety has the Las Vegas, Nev very near the edge of the inlay, and about 2 mm from the bottom of the "$1". I'd like to request that TCR authors consider this chip for an illustration in the appendix to the book using the town-line position as the determining characteristic for catalog numbers N7201 and N2116.
