This isn't exactly a story about "finding" chips, but it does go to show how sometimes you can ferret out something you want with just a little information.

There was a fellow collector who was at the Isle Vista Casino in Bayfield, WI. He was the only player at the only blackjack table in the place and was looking over the chips carefully while he was playing. The pit boss noticed this and asked him if he was a chip collector. He said yes, and the pit boss told him that he used some of their old chips at home for poker games. That was pretty much the end of the conversation and the collector left without getting the persons name or any other info. Later, he relayed the story to me in an email.

I didn't have the obsolete $25 or $100 "RCC" chips from that casino and wanted them badly. I mailed a $20 bill and a prepaid padded mailer to the casino along with a note explaining the conversation that my friend had had with the pit boss. I told them that if this person would like to sell me one each of the obsolete $25 and $100 that he could put them in the mailer and keep the $20. If he wasn't interested in doing so then would he please put my $20 bill back in the envelope and drop that in the mail. In a couple weeks I got my envelope back and inside were the chips I wanted.
