Since the point has been made that the Mfg. own the right to the art. If some where to complain, it would be the Mfg., it could not be the casino. Since thi is free advertising and promotion and not really a product (remember the casino owns the chips, they don't sell them?) it would also not be protected.
As for books, there is at least one exception that is worth noting. Cookbooks are subject to copyright laws, as a whole, but an indiviual receipe is not.
As for chip books, or other collectibles, the content would be protected from reprduction, but not the images. Because the authors do not own the rights to the images to start with.
Art is an interesting subject. If the artist signs with (C) and the date, it cannot be reproduced without permission. Meanwhile something like the Mona Lisa is not rstricted. If you buy an old painting, you own it and the rights to reproduction. Not so with a new work of art...
