The Club has entered into a contract with the Orleans Hotel to host our 2001 and 2002 Conventions. The dates are as follows:
June 6 - 9 2001
June 5 - 8 2002
Please understand this move back to the Orleans Hotel is NOT a reflection on our current dealings with the Tropicana. Everything with the Tropicana to this point has been just as promised and we anticipate no problems as we get closer to this year's Convention.
After I made a coutesy call to the Orleans last fall and notified them we had decided to move to the Tropicana they called me a few weeks later and said they would like to have us back. Even Michael Gaughan Jr. expressed a desire to get our Convention back. As we were negotiating a potential contract the deadline for dealer tables passed. Even though there had been a lot of comments that interested members couldn't get tables we only had requests for 8 more tables than last year. Based on this we felt the Orleans could handle the needs of the Club Convention for at least two years. In addition there has been some concern regarding the rumours that the Tropicana is for sale. We wanted to do everything to avoid any possibility that we would get into a situation like we had a few years ago with the sudden closing of the Aladdin.
I know everyone will enjoy this year's Convention and as those of you who have attended the Convention the last two years know, the Orleans will see that we have a great show there in 2001 and 2002.
Thanks for your support.
