I was just introduced to a website that offers long distance telephone calls using your computer and your internet service provider's local phone number. I have absolutely no connection with or interest in the site, but I tried it to talk to my kids in CA and OK and I thought it would be a cost-efective means of chippers talking to one another without the expense of a long distance call. All you need is a sound card, speakers, and a microphone on your computer. The only drawback I see is that they ask for some personal data (probably for passing on to their advertisers) when you register. Here's the site:
