The protection afforded to a coin (or chip) by slabbing is a minor part of the reason for slabbing. The real reason is as stated in my other post. You could provide comparable protection for a chip by encasing in any of the currently available plastic holders. The evil of slabbing is in the grading, not the encasement in plastic.
However, since you are young and naive <g>, Gene and I won't hold this minor heresy against you. Just don't let it happen again, or we might have to invite you to our barbecue! <g> ----- jim o\-S
