Again, I had no part in the CHIPCO chips looking faded as compared to the vivid original colours. It just happened.... The second operation was a flop and the rack was sold. The sad part is crook b*stards in the secondary market started passing them off as original issue.
Even today, I get calles from collectors saying they are getting the chips for 1/4 of published values...thinking they're getting a good deal on the original inventory. The crooks even have the balls to use all my ads and halftones [black & white offset] of the chips which is the same design....but as you said a faded CHIPCO. It's things like this that burn my ass, and I can very well relate to what Gene and Jim feel when they bring up from time-to-time about certain chips being passed off as something else.
I also posted up the index that I'm sending you one example of the "Floridian 50" (a $300 value) for a student classroom drawing to be conducted during the seminar. I'm only too sorry that I can't be there with you, Dale and Ken....but perhaps in the future.
