If Mel is smart he will welcome one of his computer literate kids to move back in after college just for the tech help. I send my son cards occasionaly with nice things to say about him and perahaps a $20 bill. The first time I called he said "who is this" after he got the cards he at least recognized my voice. I've been down at my dad's helping him get netwise and needed additional help so I called my son at his dorm room and he was able to talk on the phone and be online at the same time because of something like "ethernet" or something (Don't ask me). Also I asked him about using an ftp to transfer files and he said that you'd have to set up an ftp site at the recieving computer. He also said that ICQ allows you to send files from computer to computer.
I am still pretty daft when it comes to these things but I know more than 3 years ago.
