The future of on-line chipping
In Response To: Re: The Cotton Club - Part 3 ()

Hi Alex... The Prodigy people have recognized the Internet tidal wave and have created their own version of Prodigy accessible from the web. Unfortunately, due to the ancient design techniques used in 'Prodigy Classic' the existing bulletin boards can't be made accessible to others on the Web. The result is that they have essentially stopped any new development or updates to Prodigy Classic and have been frantically trying to get everyone to join their 'New Prodigy'. The chipping bulletin board is on Prodigy Classic. There is no counterpart that we could move to on the New Prodigy.

I feel it's only a matter of time before the Classic service closes. I am also a long-time Prodigy user and still have my account. However, the web is the future; this board or something like it accessible to all on-line users will be the place to discuss our hobby in the future. I can't imagine anyone who has a modem that won't be on the Internet within the next two years. Even Mel will have a real browser and be able to actively participate by then [g].
