Hey Bob,
Great scan Bob. That image shows exactly what I was talking to Greg about with respect to composite chips - both Sm. Crown and Paulson Hat & Cane chips (that come to mind right now...).
In the image below shows a flip that a CHIPCO chip (in the center of the image) was in for about a year, and another example of the same chip (on the right side of the image) that hasn't been in a soft plastic flip.
The image shows that the plasticizers do effect the colors of the chips, as they have 'run' together, as well as transferred to the flip.
Is this an isolated case? Or typical???
Also recall, have you ever had to use a phone card or room key to remove a flip from a page in either your binder, or one from a dealers binder? Is this yet another example of the plasticizers effect? Humm...
Just something to think about.
Dick
Also with respect to the Beilstein test, I would STRONGLY recommend that if anyone is considering performing this test, to do it with great caution, and in a well ventilated area!!!
