I never heard the attribution stated by anyone, but if I had to make but one "wild guess" as to what the atttrbution stated was...it would be the Jockey Club. I can show you at least ten (10) generic Crest & Seal poker chips that have loosely been attributed to Cuba and Puerto Rico by some here in the US, Cuba and Puerto Rico. I've even been told that the FLORIDIAN CASINO chips are from Cuba by a certain person who said they were told this in a well known market plaze in Habana. Of course those who know me know exactly what my reply was...and I'm not even from Missouri.
Of course anything is possible, and of course many types of generic poker chips could have been used anywhere.... but this doesn't mean those chips were made exclusivly for a certain club for them to be solely (loosely) attributed to that club. Also, we need to listen a bit more carefully when someone may say" "These chips were 'used' at ....," because they're not actually attributing at that point. I think sometimes imagination runs a little too vivid, though....and sometimes I think we all need to be from Missouri.
